Training
Acosta Then graduated with a degree in General Medicine from the Universidad Católica Nordestana, where she earned the Magna Cum Laude distinction . She subsequently completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Salvador B. Gautier Hospital, accredited by the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, and pursued studies in Clinical Nutrition at the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo. Between 2015 and 2018, she specialized in Gastroenterology at the Salvador B. Gautier Hospital. She also received training in bariatric endoscopy abroad. [1] [2]
Professional career
His professional activity has been developed mainly in the areas of gastroenterology, nutrition and endoscopic treatment of obesity.
In February 2019, the American Association for Bariatric Endoscopy certified Acosta Then in the endoscopic treatment of obesity. Diario Salud reported that she was the first Dominican gastroenterologist to obtain this certification. [3]
In March 2020, Diario Salud reported on the performance of endoscopic gastroplasty procedures for the treatment of obesity in Santiago de los Caballeros, in which Acosta Then participated along with the Brazilian specialist Manoel Galvao Neto. [4]
Acosta Then is the founder of Salutte Clinic, a center dedicated to the treatment of obesity and other medical specialties. The clinic began operations in Santiago de los Caballeros and later opened a branch in Santo Domingo in 2024. The opening of the latter was reported by Listín Diario . [5]
In 2022, Listín Diario and Diario Libre reported that Salutte Clinic was selected among the world's centers of excellence by Bariatric Endoscopy Live Global, an organization linked to the training and development of bariatric and metabolic endoscopic therapies. [6][ 7]
